4 Ways To Brush Hair To Minimise Hair Loss



While most of us women have this bothersome conundrum of losing hair every time we place a brush to it, it has caused deliberate stress outs and apprehensions of hair loss for women of all ages. Losing certain amount of hair per day is weighed normal. The question arises when little is too much and you start wondering, do I have a hair loss problem?


It is an unpreventable case to stop any hair fall while brushing. 

NYC dermatologist Francesca Fusco says, 
"On average, we lose fifty to a hundred hairs a day. That’s just hair going through its cycles, and there will be a new one to replace it."

While there could be so many contributing factors to hair fall, the only involvement you must be worried about is the kind of brush you use. It all starts with using the right kind of brush. Here are four tips to keep in mind when brushing your hair.

Choose the right brush

Invest in a good quality all natural brush. Most women prefer the boar bristles brush. Boar bristles stimulate the scalp and distribute the hair's natural oils. Some brushes claim to help seal split ends, add body and hydrate and condition hair while minimizing breakage. Do your research before you make an investment. Most often, the cheaper brushes are not the real deal.

Reduce excessive brushing

As much as you wish your hair is in place all day, brushing it too often can lead to  excessive hair loss. It is important to brush your hair lesser number of times to let it relax and breathe on its own.

Never brush wet hair

It is a no-no to brush wet hair in an attempt to de tangle it. It creates unwanted force and stress on the hair follicles that increase its chances of breakage. Use a wide teeth comb to untangle wet hair and if you must brush it, wait till its dry before you brush it. Always start from the bottom and work your way up. It is good to use a detangler product before you brush.

Clean your brush regularly

If you have a dirty hair brush its pointless to reuse it as this contributes to dirt build-up in your hair. For hygienic reasons, wash your brush regularly or invest in a new one. 

To clean your brush thoroughly, first remove any hair caught in the bristles and then run the brush under warm water. Add some shampoo or hand wash and work it into the bristles, creating a foam. Then rinse the brush off completely and set on a towel to dry.
