Cleanse Your Mind. Free yourself.

A clean and refreshing mindset is the beginning of unleashing the extensive good and power within us. Knowingly or unknowingly, we face restrictions in our path of growth mainly caused by a curbed buildout of mind, body and spirit.

“Man is not a circle with a single center; he is an ellipse with two focii. Facts are one, ideas are the other.”

― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Everybody wants positivity to flourish within. The stepping stone to achieving positive energy is to be a recipient of positive charge on the mind. But the environment we live in is always wavering negative and positive charge that can adversely reveal the course of growth for our minds. Increased societal norms and the ever spinning success chase drives us insane. Keeping ourselves in check with who we are, what we think and want to achieve in life is inconclusive for the mind to elucidate, especially when we think irrational thoughts, lose trust in ourselves or even when we judge too quickly.

It is discernible that humans develop ideas and exercise free will. That is the autonomy that we have within us. But the effects of that kind of power influences our minds to expand an ego. An ego is just the psyche of an idea influenced largely by the relation to the world around us. When one gets obsessed with an idea, it uncharacteristically converts into negative influences  that thrive in the mind to discriminate, to hate and to judge unfairly.

It is hard to understand the moment when the mind is subjugated by our ignominious ideas, and to subsequently let go of the negative charges that invite us to poison our mind. That is the moment of weakness that we need to restrict in our lives. Begin to reconnect with the perfect, kind and loving energy that is part of your being and gradually there will be no room to disrupt the mind.

Here are few ways to establish an open mindset.

1. Dispose Ego : The poison within needs to die out. Never let your conscience be governed by your surroundings. Ego is the worst ailment for the mind. It obscures your thinking and makes you look boastful and stupid. Always be sensitive to another's feelings before you think of your own. The act of being selfless is the step to dispose the ego within.

2. Meditate : By meditating, the mind is treated to some relaxation and much deserved rest. When the mind is calm, the decisions of life seem easy to handle. When you meditate, you often maintain a balance in your life that revitalizes, empowers and helps you heal.

3. Trust yourself : Always remember the meaning of your life. You may not be the best right now, but you can always better yourself. Bitter experiences often make us shun the same path, but learn to trust yourself. You learn from the mistakes of your past and find meaning in each lesson learned.

4. Practice the art of silence : In the hustle and bustle of the world we live in, silence is such a necessity. From electronic gadgets, to insensitive talk, all have unpropitious effects on the mind that relate to stressing it out to a point of anxiety. A moment of silence in a day is hard to find, but understand that only you have the power to soothe and relax your mind, and that can only be done when you find that moment of silence.

5. Have Hope : Losing hope is inevitable especially when life is full of challenges. While discovering your path it is not uncommon to lose hope, feel less motivated and discouraged. The easy way out is to distract your mind and engage in bad habits. That is the sign of weakness and the beginning of diverting your path. Stay alert, have hope, it will never let you down.

Once your mindset changes, the way you perceive the world and yourself changes. The truth of the matter lies in training your mind to discard the bad and swallow the good.

Zucchini Crisps

For anyone who is always concerned about eating healthy over junk, finding and experimenting recipes that make eating healthy interesting is my new go to. This one I picked up from the Internet and like everyone who successfully made it, the satisfaction convinced me to give it a try.

Here is my take on a healthy snack that is so easy to prepare and can be served immediately.

Give this one a try and find satisfaction serving a healthier option to your loved ones.

Ingredients
3 large zucchinis
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup bread crumbs (use pancko for that extra crunch)
salt and pepper to taste

Method
Preheat oven to 450˚F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Using a peeler, peel stripes along the outside of the zucchini, lengthwise, spacing the stripes evenly. Then, slice the zucchini into quarter inch thick slices.
Toss the slices into a bowl and coat with olive oil.
In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
When ready to bake, coat each zucchini slice in the dry ingredients, coating both sides.
Place on the baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, until browned and crisp.
Serve hot.

Retrospect this August and Live Better

August, the eighth month of the year is already here and I wonder if it is just me totally surprised by its arrival. At the start of the year, I never made any resolutions or concrete plans. This was going to be a year of retrospect and self discovery. I wanted to take the time to get to know myself, my likes and dislikes, my passions and interests and scrutinize the possibility of surging into a new and improved me.

I have come to realize that life is a journey and no matter how hard you want to mend the blemishes and disagreements of the past, the future is the only way to reprieve. Stimulating oneself to dispose bad habits and renew that inner strength is an ongoing process. But the realization of wanting to transpose the negatives to positives should be immediate. For me, the discovery of myself over the past seven months of the year has altered my thinking, my self reclamations and my passion to succeed. I have mellowed down in persona and more importantly I stopped chasing success. An instantaneous credibility is associated to my character. I think I have finally found the equanimity in my life.

As a youth of this generation, there is constant need to impress and succeed to indispensable measures. But in doing so, we are simply losing the connectivity with ourselves. Our minds are conditioned to focus on money, possessions and worldly riches. The characteristics we build in the interim are distorted and dysfunctional. I have realised that chasing success is not proportional to achieving dreams. Dreams are paths of direction you wish to take. The nightmares are in the hurdles of getting there. But life teaches you to advance. To look beyond scope and predicament, to stop planning and start living.

We have learnt that achievement is not static, it has to be sought after in any field. Ambitions and goals are good, provided they do not seem surreal or unrealistic for your needs. While most of us are sucked up in a 9-5 environment, others are over working and over doing what should already be done by creating deadline principles. Every passing day you chase success losing out on life itself. Work hard, strive to achieve goals with a sense of practicality. There is no need to rush, stress or disintegrate. Life has so much to offer and that is only witnessed when you are content with yourself.

Whenever life stabilizes and you sense that you are at peace and calm with yourself and eventually you feel that there is no hunger to outdo or over perform, pause and take a moment. I tell you my readers, that is the time for you to take a step back, to sober down and reflect. Aging is inevitable so we got to think about our life and its dwelling. Happiness is a direct result of the way we live everyday.

My advice to you in this eight month of the year is to retrospect and find the zen in your life. Discovery is important as you grow older never refrain from knowing that the mistakes you made yesterday have only made you a better human being today. Nothing we make in this world can be taken to our grave. So live your life in modesty, in truthfulness, compassion and understanding to your needs and the needs of others. Retrospect for a better life.
